PMCC Level 1 certification is a two-day class designed for the student ready to step beyond the basic knowledge and skill behind Precious Metal Clay. Each of the four projects in this class combines two or more metal clay construction techniques and challenges the student to create jewelry or sculptures that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Students explore and demonstrate mastery of basic hollow forms, carving green ware, ring sizing and construction, setting faceted stones, controlled syringe drawing, and forming sheet clay, as well as building bails and incorporating embedded wire.
Projects are evaluated according to the care taken with design, joining, finishing, attention to detail, and the student’s understanding of the material covered in discussions. Completion of the class prepares the student for PMC Connection Certification Level 2 and entities the student to an assured PMC competency and Certified-Artisan discounts honored by most metal clay suppliers. Basic clay and tools are included in the class fee; however, there is a $50 Bench/Supply Fee (Bench/Supply Fee may be less due to market prices around the date of the class) for items that the students then keep. Students are also encouraged to bring any tools, textures, or supplies with which they enjoy working. Additional silver and tools will be available for purchase from Kris.
This class meets Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, from 9 am to 5 pm each day.
Register for this class through the PMC Connection or by calling 866-762-2529.
