Make lovely one of a kind earrings as a gift or for yourself!  Learn how to make earrings out of fine silver metal clay. The student learns how to roll and texture fine silver metal clay, fire it using a butane torch, finishing techniques, and how to add a splash of color with alcohol inks.

The student also creates their own earring wires by bending and hammering them into shape.

Precious Metal clay (PMC) is actually finely ground particles of re-cycled fine silver combined in an organic binder. It is worked just like regular dirt clay; rolled, formed, pinched, dried, detailed, and then fired. The process of firing metal clay is called, “Sintering.” Firing the clay burns the binder away leaving only the fine silver metal. The metal is finished and polished the same way jeweler’s polish and finish their metal. The great part about metal clay is a piece of jewelry can be made in a matter of a few hours without all the expensive equipment required if making jewelry the traditional way. Learn from PMC Connection’s Senior Instructor and Technical Advisor for Precious Metal Clay, Janet Alexander, who has 35+ years experience as a jeweler and is a national jewelry instructor and author.

The fee includes all metal for the earrings and use of tools in class! All you have to do is show up!

Students must be 16 or older. Anyone under 18 must have signed permission and release form from parent.
